How to store granola & nuts to keep them fresh
Keep it airtight
Air is the enemy of crunch. Once a pack is open, move granola and nuts into an airtight container or clip the bag tightly shut. This keeps moisture out and the texture in.
Cool, dark and dry
Store them in a cool, dark cupboard away from the hob, the kettle and direct sunlight. Heat and light speed up staleness, especially for nuts, which are higher in natural oils.
Granola vs nuts
Granola keeps well at room temperature in a sealed container. Nuts last longer somewhere cool. In a warm climate, the fridge or freezer can extend their life and keep the oils fresh.
How long it lasts
Stored well, granola stays crunchy for weeks and nuts for a few months. Always trust your senses: if nuts smell sharp or bitter, they've turned and are best replaced.
