How to build the perfect smoothie bowl
Get the base thick
The secret to a spoonable bowl is frozen fruit and not too much liquid. Frozen banana, mango or berries blended with just a splash of milk gives you that soft-serve thickness. Add liquid slowly.
Balance the flavour
Banana brings natural sweetness and creaminess, so you rarely need to add sugar. A spoon of nut butter adds richness, and a handful of greens disappears into a berry base if you want them.
The toppings
This is where granola earns its place: a generous handful for crunch against the cool, smooth base. Add fresh fruit, a few seeds and a light drizzle of honey.

To turn a bowl into a breakfast that lasts, build in some protein and fibre, from the granola, a spoon of yogurt, or your usual protein blended into the base.
